I know I posted that funny JibJab video on Facebook, but I figured that since you managed to score a double special day, you deserved some extra special celebrating. So here is my short list of reasons why I’m thankful to have you as my Father and friend!
THANK YOU for every prayer you have ever prayed over me.
THANK YOU for letting me try on the giant soda dispenser pack while working concession stands at the UT Stadium, even though you knew it was way too heavy for me. You’ve always enabled me to try big adventures!
THANK YOU for teaching me the importance of Community Groups.
THANK YOU for being an AMAZING cook!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU for not laughing at me too hard when I fell backward from said soda dispenser backpack . . . I know it was tough. Don’t worry, little Ray did enough laughing for everyone. 😉
THANK YOU for driving me around to see the beautiful mansion-sized houses and reminding me to keep my dreams alive when I was having sad days.
THANK YOU for letting me move to Seattle. It hasn’t been easy for any of us to have this many miles between us, but I still feel your love and hear your voice each day.
THANK YOU for blasting Christmas music and dressing me up like a Christmas tree that one year.
THANK YOU for all the cookie dough you let me eat when you worked at Delectable Edibles. 😉
THANK YOU for holding me and cleaning up my mess that one time I puked on the city bus.
THANK YOU for encouraging my discipleship teachers to keep chasing after me even when I said NO a million times.
THANK YOU for singing that song onstage with me during my 1st/last VBS at GT! I will forever treasure that moment!
THANK YOU for being willing to constantly re-explain sports to me. And don’t worry, I’ve learned that it’s pronounced “Sell-tics” and not “Kel-tics” . . . Viva le Basketball, eh?? 😉
THANK YOU for not getting mad at me when I backed the car into a pole while you were doing that Christmas play at GT that one night.
THANK YOU for encouraging me to write stories and poems!!!!
THANK YOU for the teddy bear you brought to me when I was in the hospital after that ridiculous kidney surgery thing.
THANK YOU for letting my crazy friends come over to hang out with me even when you had other things you wanted to do.
THANK YOU for not always letting me get my way.
THANK YOU for all the courtesy laughs. 😉
THANK YOU for teaching me how to do laundry and how to iron.
THANK YOU for reminding me that it’s never too late to do what you are passionate about doing.
THANK YOU for all the cheesy Dad Jokes and raspberries on my cheek.
THANK YOU for giving me roots AND wings!
THANK YOU for every tear you ever cried over me.
THANK YOU for teaching me how to be brave and selfless.
THANK YOU for letting me officiate your wedding—it was an honor to be involved in such a special way!
and most of all,
THANK YOU for being my daddy—fully present, encouraging, loving, filled with compassion, exemplifying the heart of God for me.
I love you so much and I’m blessed to be your daughter,
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!
